We know from archaeological excavation at Laang Spean, Samrong Sen and Angkor Borei, the Chinese chronicles history of the Chin (265-419) and the Liang (502-556), and from the inscriptions dating from the fifth century that organized civilization settled in the area of now Cambodia and that there are evident to indicate that human settled in the Southeast Asia region since the prehistoric period.

These records, the discoveries and the oral history through folklore give us insight into the history of ancient Khmer but there remain many unanswered questions involving the civilization of Funan, Chenla and the greatest Empire of the Southeast Asia.

The history of Funan began with the legend of a Brahman Kaundinya and the local princess Soma of the Dragon Kingdom, the legend that link to mythical origin of the Pallavas dynasty of Kanchi and that of Iranian Pahlavas.

...in progress...
